Post-Operative Diet
Dr. Kalant and Dr. Pink recommend a soft food diet for 5-7 days following surgery. Some ideas of what to have on hand are:
- applesauce
- milkshakes and smoothies (NO straws)
- ice cream/frozen yogurt
- soups/broths that are not too hot
- jello
- pudding
- avocado
- mashed banana
- pureed seedless fruit
- mashed beans, such as kidney beans, black beans, or butter beans
- mashed sweet or regular potatoes
- scrambled eggs
- soft cheeses
- yogurt
Please avoid fruits with small seeds, they may get stuck in the wound or socket which could cause irritation and possible infection.
Smoothies and milkshakes are a great way to incorporate vitamins and additional nutrients while healing. Remember to avoid using a straw for at least 7 days following oral surgery. Never hesitate to contact our office with any questions or concerns. Happy healing!
