All surgical procedures may be done using local anesthesia (numbing). Nitrous oxide conscious sedation (laughing gas) and/or intravenous anesthesia (twilight sleep, IV sedation) are also available and commonly used to reduce stress and anxiety and disassociate patients from the procedures. All our staff, including the front office, are CPR trained. Dr. Kalant and his nursing staff are certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and have a general anesthesia license from the Board of Dental Examiners – which requires regular in-office testing of the office staff by Board-approved examiners.
Our anesthesia monitoring equipment is the same as you would find in a modern hospital operating room. The anesthetics techniques we use are safe and appropriate to the health of each individual. We always take a comprehensive medical history and, when appropriate, consult with your physician prior to any treatment or anesthesia.
Anesthesia and Pain Control
Local anesthesia, oral medications, Nitrous Oxide, and intravenous
anesthesia are used in our office for pain and anxiety control. Most
people are not thrilled to go to the dentist, let alone an oral surgeon.
However, we have many anesthesia techniques that can now make your
experience comfortable and anxiety free.
Postoperatively, medications can be given to make you as comfortable as possible. Dr. Kalant is trained and knowledgeable in pain and anxiety control and have extensive clinical experience in a wide variety of anesthesia procedures. Most importantly, Dr. Kalant will discuss all aspects of your planned surgery and anesthesia in detail and answer all your questions about any aspect of the operation before it begins. We take pride in helping our patients through their surgery as easily as possible, and Dr. Kalant and his staff are available to give all the support and attention you need.
